Dr Marelize Swart is a psychologist, sex therapist and life coach with more than 30 years of international clinical experience in individual therapy, couples therapy and sex therapy. After living and working in North America for over two decades, she returned to South Africa and now offers her services fully online, supporting clients across South Africa and internationally.
Dr. Swart was for 4 years the resident Sexology expert for SA’s Health24's Forum (Health24.com is South Africa’s premier health and wellness website, averaging over 1.2 million unique users from across the world each month. Of these, over 650 000 users are based in South Africa).
She was also SA’s DRUM magazine's Sexologist for the past few years (along with its sister magazines, Huisgenoot and YOU, DRUM magazine is currently one of the largest consumer magazines in South Africa with a total readership of three million and ninety thousand).
She holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology (University of Stellenbosch) and a Doctoral degree (PhD) in Applied Psychology (University of Calgary, Canada). HPCSA
She is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist (Diplomate) — one of the highest international credentials in sex therapy — and the only practitioner in South Africa listed with this distinction, reflecting many years of specialised training, supervision and clinical practice in sexual health and relationship therapy. She is also an ICF accredited Certified Professional Coach (PCC). Coaching supports growth, confidence, boundaries, life transitions and goal-focused change — often integrated thoughtfully alongside therapy. ICF
Dr Swart has practised extensively in Canada, the United States and South Africa and is now available for online sessions in South Africa and Internationally.

Dr Swart has contributed widely as a sexual health and relationship expert. She was the resident sexology expert for Health24’s Sexology Forum for four years and served as a sexology contributor for DRUM magazine and its sister publications YOU and Huisgenoot.
In addition to her private online practice, Dr Swart is affiliated with the multidisciplinary team at Wijnland Fertility Clinic (Stellenbosch) and South Africa’s Sexual Health & Sexology team (mysexualhealthSA).
